WAA Projects

Perhaps some signals were sent out into the universe, or perhaps it was just mere happen chance, but whatever the reasons, it has been such a privilege to contribute in helping to shape the guiding principles, activities and events of this amazing Community Association that genuinely seeks to connect and empower artists to grow on their own terms! www.weareartists-community.co.uk

Desk Drawer Project | August - September 2023

DESK DRAWER EXHIBITION PROJECT This was a project I conceived and helped to devise and run in collaboration with other artists at WAA. It culminated in an exhibition where participants were invited to create/stage their own mini exhibitions contained in a desk drawer, responding to themes and metaphors that came to mind when reflecting on what the content of their own drawers represented.

The project was conceived to inspire aspiring artists to explore the idea of creating their own body of works to exhibit and over the course of a month, to coincide with the submission period for the exhibition, we held various sessions and workshops relating to the exhibition to support the participants, as well as to create together in a group setting. Sell Your Art SeriesNovember 2022 - January 2023

SELL YOUR ART SERIES This was a series of discussions I lead for artists of all abilities looking to take their first steps into showing and selling their art and curious to know about the different avenues available to them. The aim was to help pull back the veil to give artists the resources and confidence to search for what is out there for their art, and to understand better what steps to take to prepare themselves.

The four-part series covered Art Fairs and Markets; Grants and Submissions; Exhibiting Online, and Being a Working Artist.

Connect • Collaborate • Connectmonthly sessions

CONNECT COLLABORATE CREATE This is a monthly session I run for artists in the community. It is an open space to chat, gain feedback and ultimately work together on a project, either in the session, or afterwards.

The conversations can be quite organic and dictated by the attendees. The space not only acts as a platform where projects can get conceived but also a space that empowers attendees to gain confidence in and to develop their own ideas.

The sessions is also used as an avenue for artists to make real, working connections with other creative people, socialise, have fun and make some art. www.weareartists-community.co.uk/collaborate

Never Ending StoryCollaboration Project

NEVER ENDING STORY This is an ongoing collaboration project, in which an artwork is passed from one artist to the next. Each artist can rework or add to the artwork using as inspiration both the visual and written narrative presented by the previous artist, explaining why they made what they did - in the hope to that this continuous cycle of inspiration and creation will result in an evolving narrative that is integral to the project.

Artists can share moments from their world, express their emotions, describe how they are feeling on a given day, and share their artistic techniques. Like sending out and receiving a message in a bottle and building upon the narrative and adding their own personal touch to the piece, we hope that the artwork will take on new layers of meaning and interpretation. This collaborative effort will not only showcase the diversity of artistic styles and techniques but also demonstrate the power of collective energy. Sign Up Here to Join
