About

About

I am a multidisciplinary visual artist, based in England, about a decade in now after a brief career in the film industry and have been steadily developing my practise since. My artwork now mostly incorporates multimedia techniques created with photography and digital manipulation, alongside experiments with found objects, chemical alterations and digital printing.

My process is fluid, using free-association methods to explore a variety of themes. I am broadly interested in engaging with time, history, identities and my ethnicity, where the work often is underpinned by a response to sensory overload. But, I don’t believe in defining oneself down to a well branded box, and instead try to follow an organic process built on streams of consciousness to create my own visual language and commentary as it maybe felt in the moment.

I don’t have a traditional arts school background, which works well for me. I have self-acquired knowledge and no institutionally influenced understanding of art creation. It is unique to me and it is playful, expressive and accessible.

I offer vibrancy, energy and imagination…and think it’s important that a viewer can relate and engage with the work, eye to eye. I want to take as many people on the ride as possible and not make anyone feel that they may need to know more to be part of the process; and enjoy creating visually impactful works that draw the audience in to the subtler ideas that lay within.

My practise also extends to creating systems of support for artists at all levels. I have led artist-run organisations and projects to support artist’s livelihoods and well-being, along with educating and promoting arts within communities. Recently I have been exploring ideas around the promotion of creativity as tools for well-being and to further the practises of aspiring artists. I am also part of the collaboration 2CourtFools, a social art project that has created billboard art for public display and continues to create socially engaged works.
